Today we are celebrating our Christmas at home before we leave for Canada tomorrow. We opened all of our gifts from family that sent gifts and we got to spend the day with Brad's parents!!! It was a wonderful day!
The kid were so excited to see Grandma and Grandpa Brewster. They live in Austin so we don't get to see them that often. However, that didn't stop the kids for running up to them and giving them big hugs when they walked in the door!! It could have been because they were carrying gifts : ) but, I'm sure it was really because they were happy to see them!
Grandma had a special gift for them to open first. We weren't sure if they were going to be able to open just ONE gift before lunch but it ended up working out.
Grandma must have known how much Addyson like my nativity set because she got the kids one of their own that was VERY kid friendly!!! I wish I had a better picture of it, it is a Little People Nativity Set and it is SO super cute!! I'm looking forward to having this around for many Christmas to come! The kids were so distracted playing with this that they didn't ask to open another gift!
Brad had slaved away in the kitchen all morning making Chicken and Dumplings. This is his new favorite thing to make! It was so yummy and perfect for this afternoon! It is really interesting, day to day cooking I do but when it comes to having company over Brad always cooks! Our family and friends must think I never cook! : ) He is better at cooking under pressure and I do better with the day to day stuff... I guess it works for us. We all ate two bowls to be sure we had enough energy to open gifts!!! : )
The kids were in the back room playing and all of a sudden we heard "Ho, Ho, Ho Merry Christmas to All!!!" and then the front door closed. We couldn't believe it. Santa had visited us early. He must have known we were leaving for Canada and wouldn't be home for Christmas. Owen was so excited to tell us the story of Santa coming and what he said!
Addyson was excited to see that Santa left a sit-and-spin!!! There is one that she gets to play with at gymnastics and she just loves it!!!! Santa must have known this gift would be a hit with her!
Then the gift opening began!!! Unlike last year, this year both kids are really into gifts; opening them, getting excited about what they get, and playing with the new toy!!! It was so fun to watch!!
The kids had a lot of fun showing Grandma and Grandpa all of their new toys!!!
Even dad got to try out some of the new toys like this 3D dinosaur book from Aunt Wendy and Uncle Andy. Silly Daddy!
OHHHHH, a Razorback Football from Santa!!! Another great gift !!! Santa must have known that Kiptyn chewed up his other one!!!
Our little momma loved hugging, rocking, and "Shhhing" her new baby!!! What a great afternoon! We are so blessed to be able to open so many great gifts from family and friends! And to think... this is just a start. Guess I better go clean out the toy room to make room for all of the new goodies!
