Aric and Emily's Wedding

Today was Aric and Emily's wedding!!!  4 of the 5 of us were in the wedding!!  I was SO excited to have my family all dressed up (last too for the rehearsal dinner) and be able to take pictures and I am SO sad to report that I don't have a single family picture. : (  I'm hoping that the photographer at least got one so when those pictures come in I'll have to do another post!
The wedding was at 5 but pictures started at 3:30.  I had a hair appointment at 11 and them planned to rush home and help Brad get the kids up to Pratt Place Barn so we could nap them there and we wouldn't have to have our babysitter load them all up and bring them to us (we were suppose to be there at 2 to start getting ready).  Plans foiled a bit when we got there close to 1 (my goal was noon) and then it took Owen about 15 minutes to fall asleep and Addyson 30 (most of which she was crying).  As time ticked I got SO nervous!  I know if they don't nap good it can be a disaster!  Thankfully Owen woke up excited and ready to go so he went and got ready with the guys.  About 15 minutes later I had Ashley (she was downstairs with the kids while we got ready) wake up Addyson.  She does NOT wake up easily....
It was now 3, pictures were 30 minutes away, and she didn't want to get dressed, she hadn't eaten lunch, and I still had to fix her hair....I was seeing everything start to fall apart!  I snuggled her, bribed her, and then my mom came in all dressed up with her hair fixed and Addyson was finally ready to get ready!  WHEW!!!!  Look at me putting on her little TOMS.... she's the mini bride!! : )
I was SO thankful to have Ashley there all day to help!!!  We bounced kids back and forth depending on who needed what or if I was needed for wedding stuff.  Between her and grandparents and other family members and strangers (to us) the day was pretty stress free!
All the kids were dressed and while the bride and groom took their pictures the kids had time to eat lunch!  Everything was working out and I was SO thankful!  They served mini chicken nuggets... clean enough...except for the bbq dippy which I was able to talk her out of and give her ranch!  When it was time for the kids to take a picture, she'd go with a nugget in hand or mouth but she would have it gone by the time the picture was taken!  A win-win for all!
One thing we love about weddings is reliving our own!!!  Aric and Emily got married in the same church we did so Brad was telling the Groom's men all about our day while we waited for this wedding to kick off!
Since I was in the wedding, I have no pictures of it. : (  The kids did great walking down the aisle!!  None of them were walking the same pace but they all made it down and were cute as could be!  Then Ashley took them to the cafeteria during the ceremony so they didn't have to sit still for the whole thing.  When it was time to leave someone went to get the kids and I heard a scream... then Addyson and Troy appeared  and then Addyson was the only one to walk back up the aisle...without her flowers but she was still cute!!!  Turns out Owen wanted to take the stroller with him (we took it in before the wedding so Ashley would have somewhere to lay Ethan)... he wasn't going to leave it behind.  We should have explained it more to him before hand and had the kids practice more yesterday but it was a bit crazy.... So, no stroller = no Owen.
No worries, on to the reception!!!!  The barn was beautiful, the weather was great (lots of outside pictures), the food was good, and the party was great!!!
All of it was too much fun for this little guy!!!  My cousin Gary got him to sleep and we put him in the stroller where he napped for about 45 minutes and then was up the rest of the time!!  I couldn't believe it!  He was passed from person to person but was such a good sport!  It was nice to have some time with the older two to dance!  Funny story, someone was holding Ethan and our friend Marty went up and said, "Hi Ethan!!!" and the lady said, "OH, that's what his name is!"  To everyone that didn't know him, he was just the cute baby being passed around. : )
The food was so good Addyson kept getting plates full!!!  Being a flower girl is a lot of work!!  She was SO cute.  She kept getting stares from people and Carol, Emily's mom, told me that a lot of people were asking her who that "cute girl" is.
Then she managed to talk Ashley into a piece of cake while daddy was getting her a piece.... what party is a party without 2 pieces of cake?!?!
The cake was SO good that Owen didn't think twice before he licked his plate clean!
Then it was time for the first dance.  Look at this beautiful couple!!!  I'm so happy for them!!!  They met New Year's Eve 6 years ago, got engaged New Year's Eve 2 years ago (at our house), and got married this New Year's Eve!!!  How fun!!!
Then Aric danced with my mom to "I Hope You Dance"... same song Brad danced with him mom to! : )  Look at my mom's hair... I was SO proud of her...she did her hair a bit different AND put gem clips in her hair!!!  I told her it was a wedding so she should live it up and she did!!!!
Then the dance floor was opened and Owen didn't waste any time getting down... literally.... he was break dancing and this was his signature move.... he would get down on his hands and move backwards for about 3 moves and then hope back up!  He was so proud of his move!
The two ring bearers had a blast dancing all night!  Owen would come and ask for water because he was SO thirsty and he would drink the whole glass in one gulp!!!  He told Brad that, "This is the best party EVER!!!!"  Now that's a good party!!!
And Ethan was still awake....and holding strong with Grandpa Ken.
This little princess was getting so tired so we were trying to prepare Owen to leave.  Every time we gave him the "5 minute" warning he would get really sad.  He was having SO much fun and I hated to make him leave but, the other 2 were ready for bed!  So we timed their leaving with Troy's and that made it much easier!  We dressed everyone in their jammies (I fed Ethan) and then we loaded them up for Ashley to take home.  All she had to do was put them in bed and then she would be free to hold Ethan if need be (and after 30 minutes of sleeping in bed Ethan was ready to be held and thankfully everyone else was asleep so that is all Ashley had to do.... I really worried about giving her too much with all 3 kids but it really worked out!)
Once our kids were gone the party was on!!!  Well, for everyone else the party was already started but for me, I was able to start taking pictures and documenting it!!!! : )
And I think I was able to dance with Brad for the first time (and this was probably the fist time all day I said more than 5 words to him!!! : )  )
It was such a fun party.... people were getting a bit silly.... can you tell???
These are my cousins Gary and Diana.... and my mom Kathy : )
Here is the beautiful couple with their pretty mommies
Me and my mommy
A lot of people stayed and partied past midnight to help ring in the New Year with the Newlyweds... see them kissing there in the middle???
Brad and Ryan toasted the New Year in full wedding style!
Happy New Year Everyone!!!
And Congratulations Aric and Emily Zantow!!!!

Owen, you are such a joy to have around.  You are so sweet, kind, loving, and a pleaser.  If someone needs something, and you are not too busy, you are more than willing to go help!  If mommy is sad you  have offered an "Owie Hug" to make me feel better and it totally works!  You are really athletic and can play any sport you try.  You are also becoming more interested in writing, drawing, coloring, and learning.  Every day you say something new and I'm impressed.  I'll ask you, "Where did you learn that from?" and you'll respond, "I don't know.  I just know it!"  You are a great big brother and a wonderful son!!!  We are so lucky to have you in our lives!  Just do mommy a favor, don't grow up so quick!!!  When I ask you that you tell me that you want to be big like your daddy!!!  You are well on your way to becoming a handsome and loving young man!  We love you!

    Dog Walking in Style

Today was a beautiful day for a drive!! : )
So the kids went out in style!!!  Owen is getting really good and driving the car, turning it around, and getting it on and off the grass.  He is so good that.....
he was able to walk Uncle Kellen's dog Bentley for me this afternoon!!! : )  Addyson insisted on taking Bentley with them on their drive and thankfully Bentley did really good... as long as they were not driving the car in reverse, it makes a different sound and he doesn't like it!!!
Don't the kids look so stylish walking the dog?!?! : )  The look like an old married couple to me!  : )

    Christmas Day

After a super late night I was hoping all the kids would sleep in... not the case.  Owen was up about 6:45.  We heard him coming so we went and got him and brought him right to our room where we had him wait.... and wait... and wait!  He was crying and I couldn't figure out why he would be sad on Christmas morning (besides having to wait for Addyson to wake up).  Finally, through the tears I heard, "I'm so sad there is NO snow."  I guess he figured since it was Christmas there should be snow...there was last year in Canada!!!  He finally stopped crying and we skyped with my parents hoping that would help keep him happy while waiting for sister but, no such luck.  He was bursting with excitement.  He kept telling me he wanted to go peek.  Finally, at 8:30 we opened the door to Addyson's room so she could wake up.  Once she did we brought her in our room so she could fully wake up... when she is woken up it takes her a bit longer to be her perky, happy self.  Once she was ready I asked her if she wanted to go see what Santa left.  She buried her head in me and said, "No, I scared!"  I had to reassure her that Santa had dropped the presents and left... he wasn't waiting for us in the living. room! Then she was ready but she was gonna let Owen go first to make sure the coast was clear! : )
Funny story- while waiting, Owen said,"Oh mom, we forgot to leave out cookies last night!"  No worries I told him, I did it for him.  I told him I would go check to see if Santa ate them.  (Thankfully, he hadn't been out yet so I still had time to.... well you know!).  I came back and told him that Santa ate the cookies.  He then asked me if I had left out milk.  "Yep!" I told him.... then I had to go "check on Addyson to see if she was awake".  I came back and was hoping this time that I had everything covered.  I don't think he would have bought it had I had to make another trip out of the bedroom that morning without him!
Finally, everyone was awake and happy, mommy got her spot in the living room to capture the kids coming out of the bed room, and I had my compute set up so my family in Canada could watch on Skype.  Now it was time to open the door and run out!
Do you think they are excited?!?!  Look at how high Owen is jumping!!!  I love the looks on their faces!  What a perfect Christmas morning reaction!
Owen yelled, "Oooo, Look at this cool car!!!" and then they both jumped in and pushed the gas. Not knowing how to drive one they drove right into the baby swing.  Brad backed them up and then he drove right into my wall.  Oops!!! Thankfully they had the idea to get out after all of that and go see what else was under the tree.
They quickly spotted Santa's plate with cookie crumbs on it and the note he left them.
Then it didn't take long for them to start getting presents out from under the tree asking, "Is this one mine?"  I think I heard that 100 times.  It was hard to contain their excitement long enough for me to get things "organized" if that is possible on Christmas morning.  See the computer beside Ethan???  I think my Canadian family got a kick out of watching the kids!
To try to spread things out a bit we would have the big kids help Ethan open his gifts.  I think that bought us an extra minute or two of time.  His gifts were rarely interesting to him so they would want to go find another gift for them!
After all the gifts were open the kids got their stockings to go through!!  Santa didn't leave any candy but, he left lots of cool little gifts like bracelets, mini notebooks, and pens!!!!
Ethan was SO patient waiting for someone to come help him open his!!!
It didn't take long before Addyson spotted the unopened stocking and went straight to work!!!
This was my favorite gift this year.  Every year, everyone gets an ornament that represents that year.  Owen got a Razorback basketball, Addyson got a gingerbread man that says "Middle Child", Ethan got a "Born to be a Hog Fan, 1st Christmas", and Brad got a Snoopy dog at the grill (he is our Grill Master).  This year, Brad got me this beautiful ornament that says "We miss you Sam & Skip" and has a dangley 2011 charm.  I cried when I saw it!!!  I also got a bracelet that is a leather band with two circles intertwined together, one say Skip and the other Sam, they are now together forever, and a charm that dangles that has an "A" on it.  I love it!
The kids also helped mommy and daddy open their gifts.  I love my expression.  The joys of being a parent is being able to make over exaggerated facial expression and they are totally appreciated and welcomed!!!!  Makes Christmas morning even more fun!!!
The kids don't really play with their toys while there are still wrapped gifts.  It drives them crazy to have an unopened gift sitting there!  Once all the gifts were opened it was FINALLY time to start playing with the toys!!!  Addyson had asked for princess stuff and she sure got it!!!!  She got a chest full of dress up Disney princess stuff; dresses, crowns, shoes, jewelry, and purses.
Owen got baseball stuff!!!  I got him that.  He told me that he likes baseballs stuff but, "I like football stuff better."  He then told me he would ask for football stuff for his birthday.  At least he is looking forward and not sad that he didn't get it for Christmas!!!  Even though he likes football stuff better, he didn't keep from enjoying his baseball stuff now!!!  The weather was perfect for a "game" in the backyard!
The other enjoyable thing for parents to do on Christmas morning is put together the gifts...... it is enjoyable, right?!?!  Brad got Owen an indoor basketball goal!!!  That was a huge hit..... once it was put together!!! : )
The kids were excited to give the car another shot!  I love how Addyson put her baby's bottle in the cup holder!!!  What you can't see is that floor board full of all of their new toys!!!  Not sure how they even fit in there!!!
Addyson got a baby set of stuff from Aunt Wendy and Uncle Andy.  She loves it!!!  She got her babies and pushed them in the stroller and put them in the crib.  It was so cute to watch!  The other joy of being a parent on Christmas morning, sitting back and watching your children play with their new gifts with big smiles on their faces, enjoying every minute!
Once things had settled down a bit, Owen remembered that we had set out reindeer food so he wanted to go check and see if it had been eaten.  Looks like the reindeer nibbled on the carrots and oats until they were full!
And then Addyson went inside and finished nibbling on Santa's crumbs that he left behind!!! : )
They were finally figuring out how to maneuver the car through the house, with my help turning them around to send them back in the other direction, with minimal damage to the corners in the house.
Since the weather was so nice we thought it would be a better idea to take the car outside to let the kids learn how to drive the car free of walls to run into.
Don't they look cute on the open road?!?!

Funny Story- Owen has been trying to figure out how Santa got the car down the chimney, we told him he probably came down the chimney and then opened the front door to bring the car in... Santa is magic so we are not sure how he did it.  Owen then told us that he heard Santa open the door and come in.  He stayed in his room but he heard Santa walking around and close the door.  It is so cute how he wants to be a part of Santa's magic!!!
We managed to stay in jammies ALL day, just like I wanted!!!  We played all morning, napped, and then played all night!  After I napped, I made all of the side for Christmas dinner while Brad made the turkey and mashed potatoes!  I made sweet potato casserole, broccoli casserole, carrots and pecan pie.... sound a bit like Thanksgiving dinner???  It pretty much was!  We love it all and since Brad missed out on Thanksgiving it was our chance to relive it and include him!!!  I was so proud of myself for cooking as much as I did, normally Brad does most of the cooking.  Maybe I am becoming domesticated!!! : )  Mom joined us for dinner and dessert and got the recap of the day from the kids and it was so fun to hear it all from their perspective!!!  What a great day!!! We will all be in bed by 8!!!  Merry Christmas!
