Neighborhood Trick or Treating

After trick or treating at the Square and eating dinner we headed to a neighborhood close to us.... we call it the "white house neighborhood" and this is where we go trick or treating every year.  The neighborhood has homes really close together, most of the participate, and most of the homes are decorated.  That means we get the full Halloween experience with minimal walking!
It is perfect for us!  The kids are usually tired, too many Halloween decorations and Owen is ready to go home, and Owen got cold (he didn't wear his long sleeve shirt because it was so warm earlier).  So we park our car, walk to about 10 homes, and then load up to head home!  Our neighborhood, there is more distance between homes (more walking) and not many participate (even more walking) so it isn't sure trick or treat'er friendly.
The routine is the same..... Addyson runs ahead (not afraid of anything)
Addyson gets candy for her and Ethan (and probably asked for Owen or said her big brother is coming)
And then Ethan wants to sit down and inspect what was put into his bucket!
The added aspect to neighborhood trick or treating is the spooky automated things that go off when you walk by them or step on them.... Owen is NOT a fan!!!  See how he has his eye on this mat.....
So Owen wants to get his candy and run and this lady hangs on to his bucket and won't let him go until he says "thank you".... which I get.... sort of..... the thing is, Owen is very polite and says "thank you" every time without prompting however....... at this moment he can't think past the spooky mat and wants to get the heck out of there.  I had to finally speak up for Owen and explain this to her so she would let him go!!!
Here's a super cute picture of Ethan.... minus the fact that my head is cut off.... and no, Addyson did NOT take this picture!!!  Maybe I need to put her on camera duty!! ; )

Ethan isn't usually a fan of holding hands but he is getting better about it if you are going where he wants to go.  He did pretty good keeping up with everyone and walking with the crowd going door to door!
I thought it was really cute when all of them where up at a door trick or treating together.... Addyson was always the spokesperson for the group. : )
Whew..... what a full day of fun with my little Razorbacks!!!!  We are ALL done and ready for bed!

First though, we had to go through the buckets and pick out a couple of treats to eat!  Now that everyone has a sugar high.... let's hope we can all get some sleep!!
And let me say, they both slept with their buckets right beside them and woke up with buckets in handing asking to eat candy first thing in the morning!  I need to candy fairy to come visit soon and take ALL of this candy away..... until next Halloween!!!

Halloween at the Square

After picking up Owen from school, we headed to the Square to trick or treat!  I love how the business on the Square come out to create a fun event for the kids of the community!  This is a fun way for my kids to trick or treat.... no scary ghosts or goblins lurking on doorsteps!!!
The only downside it finding a parking spot!!!  The event is from 3-5 so we came in on the second half meaning we could snag a spot of someone leaving if we got lucky.... and we did!!  We ended up with a close parking spot... downside is I had to get the kids out of the van and ready by myself while I waited for Brad to find us!
I got everyone out and they were ready to get started... making sure Ethan was part of the fun!!!
Try taking a picture of 3 cute trick or treats surrounded by distractions..... almost impossible!!!  If only I had the time to photoshop the 3 pictures together and get a perfect picture!! : )
Ethan loved checking out what was put in his bucket!
One of the fun things about trick or treating on the Square is running into friends!  I saw a friend I haven't seen in over 10 years!!!  Owen run into his buddy Coleman from school!  We also saw lots of other friends!  I love it!
Just like at the campground, Addyson had to ask for candy for her baby brother... and big brother if Owen wasn't keeping up!  Such a sweet girl!
This is Coleman and his sister that we ended up spending most of our evening with!  There was some candy sharing going on!
The policemen were there handing out stickers and tattoos and the firemen were there letting the kids go through the big firetruck!

After fully waking up (I had to get him up from his nap and quickly put him in the car so we could make it which is why he was sitting in the earlier pictures), Ethan was ready to get out, walk, and join in on the fun!
Trick or Treat
What did I get?
Addyson, look at this... it is a sucker!  We don't like these, right?!?!
Can I get something different???
Thought it was bad getting 3 kids together for a picture.... try getting 5 together for a picture..... especially with a 1 year old that wants to be trick or treating and a 3 year old that wants to "mother" the 1 year old..... impossible!!!!
Even with all of the craziness going on we managed to get a decent picture with Mayor Jordan!!!
Whew..... all of that trick or treating craziness made us hungry!!!!  We headed over to one of our favorite pizza places for some pizza and drinks before going trick or treating in a neighborhood!
While we were there Owen had the idea to take their picture by the window!!!  Hey, if they are up for a picture I'm willing to take it!!!!  And it turned out pretty good!!
Until Ethan wanted Addyson's headband!!!
He wanted to put it on!!!  This is a game we play with him.... especially in church if we need to keep him quiet!  He likes to put on headbands, hats, and sunglasses!
Then it was time for some yummy VEGGIE pizza... had to sneak in the healthy stuff somehow!!!  And Damgoode Pies has some of the best pizza crust around!!!!  If you haven't tried it... you must!
What do you do after dinner and sugary treats?!?!  Floss of course!!!!  One of the dentist offices were handing out tooth brushes and dental floss today and Owen was ALL about it!  I think that was his favorite thing he got!!!
Ok, bellies full and feet rested it was time to pack up and head to a neighborhood to do it all over again!  As Brad and I were loading up the van we turned and looked to see Ethan chewing on something.... he always has things in his mouth so we didn't think much about it until we looked closer.....
And he was going to town on it..... what was it?!?!  A sucker...... with the wrapper off.... and he loved it!  Who gave it to him?!?!
Addyson of course!!!!  They got a piece of candy of dinner so Ethan should have one too.... and he did!  Oh brother!  Turns out Ethan likes suckers so I guess he will be getting all of Owen's and Addyson's!   Great!

Owen's Hallowen Party

Owen had a Halloween party at his school at 2:30.  This falls right at nap time so I had my mom meet me at her house to watch the younger 2 while they napped there and I got to sneak out and spend some time with Owen.  When I got there the kids were all playing outside.  I love to sit back and observe him and see how he plays with the other kids and see who he is playing with!
While they were outside, I went inside and set up the room.... I'm the homeroom mom!!!!  I had a lot of fun planning the party and organizing things and then seeing it all come together.  It has been a busy 2 weeks as homeroom mom because Mrs. Neumeier's birthday was last week and I organized pulling funds together to get her a gift and then I had the pressure of going shopping for her!!!  When the kids came in they were SO excited to see everything!  It was so cute to watch!  Before they ate their snacks they all bowed their head to pray!  So sweet!
And then it was time for the party to begin!  I love how Owen is SO excited to tell his friends I'm his mom!!!  He comes up and hugs me and smiles!  So happy I'm there!  I'm going to enjoy this while it is like this for fear that one day he is going to pretend I'm not his mom and he'll want me to drop him off down the street so people don't see me with him!  Or maybe not.... maybe he'll never be embarrassed of me!! : )
The kids sat down so yummy snacks of cheese and crackers, fruit, and juice boxes.
And then they had some goodies to take home with them.  Spider sucker, pumpkin cookie, and goodie bags filled with candy, pencils, stickers, and tattoos!!!  The cookies were amazing!  Ian's mom is a baker and made them! : )
The kids were so excited to go through all of their goodies!!
Hey Mom, I can take the spider off my sucker!!!  They loved this!
And then it was time for games!  First game, bingo!!!
Not just any bingo, candy corn bingo!!!!  Halloween fun!
Concentrating hard to be the one to get "BINGO"!!!
And then they played ghost toss!!!  They had 5 big marshmallows that looked like ghost that they had to try and toss into the pumpkin!  It was so cute to see the kids cheer each other on!!!  We ended up running out of time for everyone to get to go so the rest of the class gets to play tomorrow (which is why I don't have a picture of Owen taking his turn).  I think the kids had a blast!
The perfect way for these big kids to kick off their evening of Halloween fun!!!!  Let the sugar intake begin!!! : )
