New Year's Eve

We had plans to stay home with friends this New Year's Eve.... stay home and relax!!!  Sounded good!  The holidays had me worn out!!!  Then our plans changed a little when Kellen's girlfriend Paz came in town for a surprise visit!!!  None of us have gotten to meet Paz so we wanted all of the siblings to get together to celebrate... that meant getting dressed up and going out.... and finding  a last minute babysitter!!!
So that's what we did.  Times like this I'm extra thankful my mom lives in town and can watch the kids last minute!!!  I got dressed up, took some pictures with the kids (Addyson took the one above), and got ready to ring in the new year with ALL of my siblings!!!
First we went on a double date with Kellen and Paz to Mermaids for dinner and drinks..
The other siblings went on dates with just their significant other.  Aric and Emily are celebrating their one year anniversary tonight and Ryan and Gina were enjoying a date night... this might be their first without the baby since she's been born.  Not sure how we were chosen to spend dinner with this couple but it was so fun to get to know Paz!! : )
And it was sure nice to sit down to a fancy dinner all dressed up with my hubby!!! : )
After dinner, we all met up at the Social Club on Dickson Street.  It is a bar-cade with lots of free old school video games and LARGE Jenga sets!  And if there is any group that can make Jenga fun, that's be our group!
We took it from using our hands to removing pieces.....
to using our foreheads to knock pieces out.... well some of us did that.... others (like me) did not.  I just love Brad's reaction in this picture.  Things are far from boring when he is around!! : )
I think this was the first time EVER ALL 4 siblings were out with ALL 4 significant others!!!!  This was JUST the way I needed to ring in the new year!!!
Okay, and we did a few of these to help ring it in as well.  And I did hesitate to put pictures like this on the blog... I write this blog for my kids about my kids but really, it is about our whole family!  And I want me kids to know that I did a lot with them and for them....
but I also did stuff with their dad and for us, our relationship, and our relationship with others!  And when they are big, I want them to go out and celebrate (however their choose to) with all 3 siblings and all of their significant others.... just like their mommy and daddy did!! : )  And this night was SO special to me that I want to remember it forever... and these pictures will help with that!! : )
Happy 1 Year Anniversary Aric and Emily!!!  You can read about their big day here!
Always a good time with Mr. B
That's more like it! : )
And one more... we were all a bit camera happy tonight!!! : )  I think it was an epic night for all of us!
My sister-in-law Gina!!! She walked up to me and one of the first things she said is, "Are you ready to drink with me tonight?!?!"  Her and I have been pregnant at opposite times for the past 6 years!!  Our relationship has also come so far in the past couple of years... another reason why tonight was extra special.... and lots of pictures to document it! : )
Our form of "chocolate milk"
We left the Dickson Street Social Club and headed over to You Know Uno's for some karaoke.  I think to say we were the life of the bar would be an understatement!! : )
Me and my brothers!!!  We are actually standing in birth order Me, Ryan, Kellen, and Aric
The girls sang my favorite karaoke song, GoodBye Earl by the Dixie Chicks!!!  And we rocked it!!: )
Here we are (minus Aric) huddled in a circle looking down at my phone!!!  I think this picture turned out great.... if only Aric was in it.
My bubba and I, he was sweet enough to make sure we all got home safely!!!!  We actually all went home to ring in the New Year... I was happy to fight the traffic and make sure we made it home safe!
To round out our festivities, Brad and Ethan made breakfast for us in the morning!!!  A great start to 2013.
Happy New Year from my Family to Yours!

Big Puzzles

The big kids each got a large floor puzzle for Christmas from Grandpa Ken and Grandma Robin.  They were excited to get to work putting their puzzle together so we spent some time this morning working on them as a family.
Addyson got a ballerina puzzle.  She and I worked on that together and found all of the pieces and got it all put it together!!
While Addyson and I were busy on one, the boys were busy working together on Owen's rainforest puzzle.... well some of them were trying to work while one was doing more harm that good!!: )  Brad made several comments about how it wasn't easy putting a puzzle together with a baby around!! : )
So when Addyson and I were all done with ours, we got Ethan to help us put the pieces back in the box!  That served as a nice distraction to him so the boys could finish their puzzle in peace!!!  After all, theirs was a bit harder with twice as many pieces, smaller pieces, and more details!
They worked and worked and worked and finally got it all done!!!  Owen even got to show me his final masterpiece before any younger sibling got to it!!! : )
Whew!!!  Doing puzzles is hard work!!!  I'm ready for a nap!!! : )

First Snow

We've gotten our first "big" snow of the year.  It wasn't big but just enough to stick around for a couple of days and plenty to play in!!!  The kids were suppose to wake up from nap on Christmas Day to snow but that snow never came.... it just got delayed until yesterday at nap time!!!  I didn't know it was coming so I was just as surprised as the kids were to wake up from nap and see big flakes coming down!!!
Owen was the first one up and he wanted to go outside right away!!!  There was no waiting for anybody!  I didn't have snow stuff ready for any of the kids but that didn't stop Owen!!  He went outside in tennis shoes, a hat, and a jacket......
..but it didn't take him long to come back in begging for gloves.... his hands were freezing!!!  As much as I wanted to bundle up all of the kids and go out to play... we had plans to go to Chuck E. Cheese with Kellen and as soon as the other 2 kids woke up from nap we had to head out.
Thankfully the snow stuck around for another day.... first thing this morning we bundled up all of the kids for them to go out and enjoy the snow... Ethan's first snow!!
The snow and cold didn't stop Ethan from going out to play!!!  This boy LOVES being outside so he was SO glad we were letting him go out with his siblings!
Owen wanted to make snow angles as soon as he got out there... poor guy doesn't have snow pants or boots..... we didn't need them last year so I hated to spend the money for items that would never get used.  He didn't seem to mind too much.... I did have several layers of pants on him though so that probably helped! He stayed out a played a long time!
Addyson was loving the snow too!!!  She too had on several layers to combat the cold!
Ethan's Razorback outfit acted as his snow suit!!!  I know we have snow pants from Owen at this age but they must be up in Canada... or in a box somewhere from 2 years ago!!! : )
At least today I have found everyone's gloves and hats!!!!  Now this guy was ready to stay outside ALL morning!!!
Ethan had a blast walking around outside.  He stayed out much longer than I thought he would!!!  Thanks to Nammie, he (and Addyson) had boots to wear!!!!  I love when a baby walks in boots for a first time.  The high steps they take!!!  So cute!
Addyson spent a lot of time giving Ethan the run down on how to make snow balls!! :)
And Owen just liked rolling around in the snow.  It amazes me how kids don't mind the cold, wet, hot, etc!!!
Looking for deer.
My nose is starting to get cold!!
Wait, before we go in, let's just on the trampoline covered in snow!!!
Even Ethan wanted in on the fun!
The little kids were cold and ready to come in... their gloves kept falling off so their fingers were freezing... how do you get gloves to stay on?!?!  Owen wasn't done... he was loving it outside!! So he went for a walk with Daddy to find deer!!  They followed the deer highway by our house and found some does!!!  I guess we need to get this boy boots so his feet won't freeze on their deer walks!!!
Because they go a lot!!! Here is another deer walk they went on when the snow was melting!!!  They found more deer, deer rubs, and lots of other animals and fun things Owen LOVES to tell me about as soon as they walk in the door!!!
Addyson had gotten ALL bundled up to go on a walk with them but at the last minute she told us she wanted to take the car... that's what she does in the summer when we go on walks... but today the guys were hiking in the woods and the car couldn't go.... so she threw a fit and didn't go either!!!  Poor thing!!  After spending ALL of that time getting bundled up.  No worries, I took her in, undressed her, and we made hot chocolate with little marshmellows for her and they boys!!!  It ended up being a great couple of snow days for all of us!! : )
